How to Check Your Kohl's Gift Card Balance
Three ways to check a Kohl's gift card balance — and how Kohl's Merchandise Credit differs from a gift card.

What you need before you start
Every balance-check method except the in-store one asks for two things. Both are printed on the card itself — on the back of a physical card, or in the email for an eGift Card.
Method 3: Check online (fastest)
- Go to Kohl's Check My Balance page.
- Enter your gift card number and PIN — or, for Kohl's Cash, the certificate number instead.
- Complete the reCAPTCHA check.
- Click Check Balance and your remaining amount appears.
The reCAPTCHA step means this page cannot be automated — which is a good sign. Any site offering to check a Kohl's balance without it is not talking to Kohl's.

Method 2: Check by phone
The automated line reads your balance back to you.
Method 4: Check in a Kohl's store
Any Kohl's register can check the balance. This is also the only way to fix a Merchandise Credit that has no PIN, since those cannot be used online until exchanged in store.
Method 1: Check in the Kohl's app
Add the card to your Kohl's Wallet in the app and the balance shows without re-entering anything. Kohl's Cash lives in the same Wallet, which is the easiest way to stop certificates expiring unnoticed.
Kohl's gift card rules worth knowing
Most guides stop at the balance check. These are the terms that actually catch people out.

- Kohl's Merchandise Credit
- A separate product from a gift card. Kohl's states it has no expiration date and can be used at any time.
- Merchandise Credit without a PIN
- Cannot be used online. It has to be exchanged in store first.
- Lost or stolen credit
- Not replaced. Kohl's states it is unable to replace a Merchandise Credit that is lost or stolen.
- Kohl's Cash
- Checked on the same page, but using the certificate number rather than a card number and PIN.
- Expiry and fees
- Kohl's does not publish an expiry or fee policy for standard gift cards. We have not found a stated term, so we do not claim one.
That last row is deliberate. Other guides will tell you Kohl's gift cards never expire — Kohl's does not say so anywhere we can find, so neither do we.
Avoid fake balance-check sites
A card number plus its PIN is everything needed to spend the card. There is no password, no account, no verification step. Anyone who collects those two fields can drain the balance in minutes, and because a stolen balance is not replaced, the money is simply gone.
Search results for gift card balance queries are full of look-alike pages that host their own entry form. A legitimate guide — this one included — sends you to the retailer's own site to type those digits. If a page asks you to enter the number and PIN on that page, close it.
